Confluence Job Fair

Web, Print

Each Spring, Carnegie Mellon School of Design hosts a career fair for its students. I designed the identity for Confluence 2011.

From the beginning of the process, I recognized the need for a central location to showcase students' work to the employers. I began to see the diversity of the work coming out of CMU as something to showcase through the identity. I created simple illustrations using the letter C that represented different facets of design as well as different visual styles.

There was only a little information that needed to be on the site. Thus, by combining the text with the title in an accordion-format navigation, it simplifies the interaction. Also, it allows the letter C illustrations to provide an interesting backdrop without creating visual conflict.

The Student Gallery page allows the employers to see the students' portfolios. Employers can sort the students by the positions they are looking for, the class they are in, and the fields they are interested in. Students were able to submit their own thumbnail that would best showcase themselves to the employers.
