Propel Charter School

Promotional materials for Propel Charter Schools. Propel Schools is a charter school system in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. The school focuses on individualized education for students. At the beginning of the project, we had a chance to talk to students from the school to get their perspective. Students' response were overwhelmingly positive, most of them emphasized on how the school is helping them reaching their individual goals and catering to their interests. Therefore, I decide to focus on that in creating these pieces.
My primary targeted audience are the kids in the schools, as they all have great dreams and hopes for what they want to be when they grow up. My secondary audience are the parents, who are eventually making the choice of which schools should the kids attend.
We were limited to use only 2 colors for the printed poster, as an exercise of restraints. Instead of simply using 2 colors for the sake of it, I simulated a coloring book, and created outlined characters for the kids to color in, leaving their mark and contributing to the final look of the poster.
The final pieces were shown with the rest of the class at the Pittsburgh Art Center, and visitors were encouraged to vote for their favorite pieces. Build Your Future came in first in 3 out of 5 categories, Most Original, Most Creative, and WOW.
